Since the launch of Vassilisa in 2007, award winning designer and artist Nadja Solovieva has remained true to her original vision: to create luxury accessories of incredible quality, texture and colours, in original prints - designed as modern heirlooms to last generations.

The designs evoke the spirit of couture house days and the time of Madame Vionnet, where draping by hand was a way to cut cloth, to flatter silhouettes and allow maximum movement of the wearer: Vassilisa scarves are always designed to empower a wearer and can be re-worn and styled season after season.

Over a decade ago, Vassilisa was ahead of its time - as a trained member of the Centre for Sustainable Fashion and Ethical Fashion Forum - in implementing these principles as a core part of its philosophy.

Today as the fashion world has had to catch up and address the huge environmental impact the vast speed of production, turnover of product, and mass waste the industry is causing - fashion is the second greatest polluter behind the oil industry: 450billion worth of textiles is thrown away a year, globalisation has seen the rise of factories in Asia for inexpensive materials and manufacturing, and fast fashion brands, which mainly use non-biodegradable synthetic materials, often resort to greenwashing.

At Vassilisa we understand heritage of design and luxury craftsmanship - we have the skills and techniques passed down through generations of artisans to pivot our brand for contemporary times whilst remaining true to our sustainable beliefs.

We make small production runs, limited edition collections and signature designs (often repeated in new colourways, tones or fabrics) to create luxury fashion for a wearer to enjoy a lifetime, to get a sense every time they put on a Vassilisa scarf they are wearing it for new.
